Living History Museum

Last Friday (yes, I am WAY behind right now) Cannon's 5th grade class did their "Living History Museum".  The 5th graders do this every year at Hill Country.  They pick a person in history that they have studied this year and they "become" that person.

Betsy Ross

King George III
Molly Potter
John Hancock
Sir Walter Raleigh
Daniel Boone
Pocahontas

They would be "frozen" and we would walk up to them and push the button on their card.  They would "unfreeze" say who they were and a little bit about why they were important in history.  Great job 5th graders!!!  Hope Hutch wants to be King George III in 6 years....we've got the costume :).

Egyptian Day

Neely had Egyptian Day today.  She has been the BEST sport this year about doing things that she has already done!!  She was excited about wearing her Egyptian costume again today and never once complained that she had already done this!  Love her attitude!

Happy Egyptian Day Neely, you rocked it!

Looking back last year (click here) she's grown up quite a bit....in many ways!

Last year I volunteered.  This year I spent the day packing up our house.  We have a contract and we close on May 31st.  Hated to miss my sweet girl's special day, but glad I got to see and do it all last year.

Eleven Years

Seems like I just wrote a post for Cannon's 10th birthday (Double Digits), and here we are, he is turning 11!

As I went through the pictures of the last year I realized two things, one, it has gone as fast as it seems it has, and two, he has grown!!!

What else can I tell you about Cannon that I haven't already told you?  Here, I'll give you someone else's words about Cannon.  I pulled his report card for the year (thus far) and here are his teacher's comments for each quarter....

Does his best in every class. Brings much joy with his genuine smile. Very responsible with his assignments.

Cheerful and diligent. Turns his work in on time. A delight to have in class.

I appreciate how hard Cannon has been working, especially in math. He is always so pleasant and respectful.

He is not only a joy at home, he is a joy everywhere he goes. I'm bragging, of course, but he really is that sweet.  I am so proud of him!!!

I love this child more than anything!!  When I think of Cannon I think of "The Fruit of the Spirit", Galatians 5:22.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness & faithfulness, I see so many of these qualities in him.   He makes me a better person!

Happy 11th Birthday Sweetheart, I love you!

Birthday Sleepover

Cannon's birthday is tomorrow!  I can't believe my "baby" will be 11.  Instead of a party we decided Cannon would ask two classmates for a sleepover and we would do whatever his heart desired.  His heart desired playing games at Main Event, bowling, pizza, playing tag, cookie cake, cokes, movies (at home), popcorn, a fort to sleep in, doughnuts, a walk on the trails and LOTS of fun!  Done and done!!!

I took cupcakes up to school yesterday for Cannon to share with his classmates

I picked Cannon, Anthony, Hayden & Neely up at school and we headed straight to Main Event

Hutch joined us a little later for some bowling!

They worked up some big appetites!  Pizza!!

and cookie cake.....

Wreck-it Ralph

This is where they slept :)

Les got up extra early to get doughnuts...and play golf!

after breakfast we took a long walk on the trails

it started out with just getting their feet wet...

and ended up getting a lot more wet than just their feet!

the cold wet walk home....

somebody got tired.....

big brother to the rescue!

so sweet!

Boys are gone and now I need to clean the house before it shows in 1 hour!  YIKES!
