Girl Time

I just got home from a quick girl's weekend in New Braunfels.  My friend Lori's family owns a house on Lake Dunlap, so we went down there to celebrate our friend Lanie's 40th birthday. 

We started out the day yesterday at a nice little restaurant downtown NewBraunfels.  Then we went down to Gruene for some boutique shopping!  We shopped our hearts out, drank margaritas, then headed back to the house to chill and get ready for a big night on the town. 

Needless to say, we had a blast!!  We always do together, and it was a much needed get away weekend for the busy Moms

Happy Fall

I'm so glad it is officially Fall, now if it just felt like Fall!!!

It's HOT and HUMID in Texas right now, but the cooler weather is on the horizon....which means SOUP is on the menu!!!!

Here is my Taco Soup recipe (I posted last year) that I will be making in the first cold (cool) snap.  I can almost taste it!  Yes, low 80's in the days and 60's at night is a cool snap here in Tejas!!!!

Member Guest

This past week/weekend was our annual member guest tournament at our country club.  Members ask guests to play in a three day tournament against other members and their guests.  After the third day there is a dinner and dance at the country club....I think this is mostly for the wives who have been putting up with their husbands being gone for 8 to 14 hours (yes, on Thursday Les was gone for 14 hours) a day for 3 days.  They (the guys) hope by the time the night is over all will be forgiven and forgotten until next year's member guest.

As aways, it was fun...and it's always fun to get dressed up!!

36 and counting

I'm 36 today.  No big deal, in fact I love 36.  I am comfortable in my own skin at 36...wrinkles, stretch marks and all my imperfections. 

At 36 I have more than I could have ever imagined....

3 beautiful and healthy children.an almost perfect husband.supportive and loving parents.siblings that are my best friends.a mother in law I truly adore.wonderful friends.a life a love.

I want to grow old....very old.  I want to watch my kids grow into adults and have children of their own.  I want to watch them love their children the way I love them.  I don't look at birthdays as a curse....they are all blessings.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? 

Anywhere, as long as my family is with me.  I love where I am, but I'd like to be on a little more land, in a house that has a bigger laundry room, a mud room and a walk in pantry!

So many.....The Glass Castle, The Great Santini, The Help, My Sister's Keeper, Gods of Alabama, The Divine Secrets of the Ya-ya Sisterhood, Little Alters Everywhere, She's Come Undone.....if it's a good book and I've recently (within the last couple of years) read it, then it's a favorite...I big puffy heart reading!

Fall, because I am always ready for cooler weather after HOT Tejas summers, and Fall clothes are definitely my favorite.  I LOVE jeans and boots...and flannel jammies!  Also, Fall means Football Season....which as you know, I LOVE!

Happy Birthday Uncle Six Flags

Today is Uncle Brent's 34th Birthday.  For the next three days he will be 34 and I will be 35.  When I was little I hated these three days, because I felt like he was catching up to me.  Now that I am 35....36 in four days, I love these three days....for the same reason I used to hate it :).

We love you Brent!!
