Through the years.....

Every year I do this blog, "through the years", and every year I am amazed that I didn't realize how much they have changed.  We added a new one to the count this year, Hutch in Pre K.  It was a little sad that I didn't get to take their picture on the front porch of Izoro Bend, but next year we will start taking pictures on the porch of Monarch Avenue, and hopefully we will take pictures on that porch through each child's senior year and beyond, God willing!

First Day of School 2013-14

It's been creeping up on us day after day and we have been savoring every single morsel of summer we had left, but the morsels are gone and here we go!

Everyone packed their own backpack and lunch last night.  Oh how I wish that would last!!!!
These sleep head groaned as I woke them up this morning.
This one (who is NEVER my morning person) hopped out of bed and did NOT want me to take her picture :)....but of course I didn't listen!
My non-morning person was the first one to the breakfast table, dressed and a big smile on her face.  This girl was ready to go back to school!!!!

Cannon was nervous, Neely was ready and Hutch was just going with the flow....he was pretty excited too! (Cannon got peanut butter on his shirt, hence the water spot, I wasn't about to ask him to pick out another first day of school outfit :)

I'm in love with these three!!!!

 Ready to go!!!!!
When I turned around to take this picture I got two "REALLY!?!?!", yep REALLY!

Hutch went right to Mrs. Burleson, his teacher, and never looked back!  Neely ran up the stairs to morning assembly with no picture or goodbye!!!!  I love her independence!
We walked Cannon up to his locker to add a shelf and make sure he was equipped for his first day of "Upper School".  Les reminded me of the sermon at our church on Sunday morning and told me "I can hear the helicopter Mommy coming in for a landing"....apparently I was "hovering".  I really do try not to, but he needed a little extra TLC this morning!

I usually would be working on a Thursday, but I took off this week (I'm so glad I did so I could hover).  Hutch will go to school Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the days I am at work.  His school is 8-12, then he goes to "Enrichment" until 3pm.  He will be picked up at 3pm with Neely, then Cannon will get out at 3:30.  It's going to be a busy, busy year!  Three in school and building a house, this should be interesting!

Happy First Day my Loves!  I am so proud of each of you and can hardly wait to pick you up this afternoon, kiss your faces and hear about your first day!!

Happy 66th Poppie

Today we celebrated Poppie's 66th birthday here in Cedar Park.  I called Meme last week and begged her and Daddy to come visit this weekend before school starts next week.  To my surprise, THEY CAME!!!!  This morning we got up and had coffee and breakfast, then a beautiful walk on the trails.

We all had a few things to do this morning, so we met back at the house for lunch, then had a little pool time before we headed to Gran's for dinner.  Everyone enjoyed playing in Gran's backyard, we had a great dinner, a little birthday "show" put on by the kiddos and then we finished off the celebration with cobbler, ice cream and birthday cookie.

Meme and Poppie brought their three dogs and their new foster.  Add my two dogs to that, Gran's dog and Gran's neighbor's dog to that (Roscoe lives a few houses down and is apparently an escape artist, he has also decided Gran's house is more fun than his own and visits often)......and you have a lot (8) dogs!!!!  They wore themselves out running in Gran's backyard tonight, thank goodness!   I think we wore Poppie out too!!  He went to bed soon after we got home.  He seemed to enjoy his day, his walk, the pool, the kids, homemade cards, BBQ and cobbler.

Happy 66th Birthday Poppie!!!  We love you so much and we were so glad to get to spend your special day with you.
