Cannon & Neely attended their first overnight camp at Pine Cove this week. If you recall, they went to "Winterfest" at Pine Cove in December and Neely won a week of summer camp. Let's just say at the time I did not realize what that was worth....but now I know. Let's just say it was a HUGE win! So, we signed C & N up for Week 8 at Pine Cove back in January and. We were encouraged to book it early, as the camps sell out fast and there is always a waiting list. So, this was their week and it was everything we ever expected it would be and more. I won't go into every detail, but I will tell you the kids are signed up for Week 8 2014, "nuff" said?
This morning Les, Hutch and I left Cedar Park at 6:30 am to head to Papa Bear Ln. in Columbus, Texas to pick up my sweet little loves. I can't even tell you how excited I was to see these two. I think the pictures may explain it, but I can't with words.....
While waiting for Neely, Hutch found this sweet young man who was very attentive to him. I am constantly amazed at how sweet young kids are with "little ones".
Seeing my girl camper for the first time in a week. She looked so beautiful and grown up. Her skin was a little darker and her hair a little blonder. She carried herself a little different, she's maturing. She informed me, "Mommy, I'm not mad at you, but just wanted you to know you didn't pack me a brush", well, I was bound to forget something. That was quite a list, but I'm thinking "hair brush" wasn't on the list and that is why I forgot it, because I didn't send one with Cannon either (better the hair brush than the tooth brush). Oh well, they lived and they don't have dread locks :).
could not hug her enough!
Happy to see her little bro and he was HAPPY to see her!
The dining hall where the closing ceremonies were held.
Neely & her Counselor, "Stixsy" or Ashley, all the counselors go by a nickname and do not tell the campers their real name until the last day. These counselors have energy and light like nothing I've ever seen. They JUMP all the time. My Mom asked one of the Pine Cove counselors (at the one in Tyler), are you all drinking tons of caffeine? The counselor's answer was "no ma'am, it's not caffeine, it's Jesus". Loved that!
After Neely's closing ceremonies we headed over to the Outback for Cannon's
We seriously ran to each other, arms opened wide!!!! I was so glad to see this sweet boy. Apparently, Hutch was too :).
Cannon, his counselor, "Scar Wars" and his cabin mates
I was trying to take a pic of Neely (see next pic) and Hutch TOTALLY photo bombed her!! LOL!
Cannon and "Scar Wars" or Luke
They had an amazing week! We are still debriefing tonight with pizza, a movie (on demand) and popcorn. I have a feeling these kids will sleep LATE in the morning. More pictures to come from the Pine Cove website, of their week. Pine Cove sent home a video of each of their weeks that I wish I could share....makes me want to go to Pine Cove. We are so blessed that our children have this opportunity to have this week, not only for the fun, but for their spiritual growth!!
Feeling very blessed tonight!
G'day Mate,
Jane
