Trick or Treating

Luigi, the vampire princess & a monkey spiderman did some bigtime trick or treating up in Twin Creeks neighborhood tonight!  I got Hutch an adorable monkey costume, but he opted for a 5 year old spiderman costume.  Apparently, my kids like to recycle costumes...and I'm not complaining!

Hutch was totally into it!  The big kids were so sweet & patient with him.  It was so much fun this year, and boy do we have some candy to eat.  I am guessing Hutch has already eaten about 20 pieces!  I know exactly how many I have eaten, and I'm not saying :).

Happy Halloween!

halloween festivities

Hutch & Les got on an airplane to go to Alabama this weekend, and Cannon, Neely & I stayed here and did some Halloween partying....

We started out at a fall festival on Saturday morning

The kids got to build tool boxes, had identification cards (finger prints and all) made & got lots of candy

Later in the evening the princess vampire and Luigi got decked out for a cul-de-sac party in our neighborhood

If this costume is making you feel slight de ja vu....it's because he decided to "be green", and "reuse" his costume from last year.  I do LOVE this kid!

I love this kid too....although she looked awfully evil!

Our friends & neighbors put on some great parties!!!

This was the mummy wrapping station, Cannon's team won!!!

Neely was on a winning team too!

Their evening ended with a hayride.  The party was still going strong, but this family was ready to go snuggle up in Mommy's bed (they always sleep with me when Les is out of town) and get some sleep!

It's been a fun weekend.  Les & Hutch just got home, and while we missed the heck out of them it was fun to have the kids to myself for the weekend...and just do whatever we felt like doing.  And that is exactly what we did!

I sing, you sing we all sing for ice cream....well, Hutch does anyway!

When we give Hutch ice cream or cake, he always sings "Happy Birthday" while eating his treat.  So darn cute & sweet!!!

It's been a post surgical kind of weekend.....

We've known for quite a while that Les had thyroid nodules, and after multiple biopsies of it, one was bound to come back "suspicious" for cancer.  So, one did!  On Friday Les had a hemithyroidectomy, which means they removed the left lobe of his thyroid.  They will send that off for pathology, and if it does come back cancer, he will go back to surgery for a completion (they will remove the rest).  We'll cross that bridge if/when we get there!

Les had excellent care!!  He is being taken care of by Dr. Blevins, at Texas Diabetes & Endocrinology, which happens to be who I work for!  His surgeon was his good friend's brother, Matthew Meigs.  Everything has gone very smoothly, considering.  Les was an excellent patient, as I expected he would be.  He is biting at the bit to play golf....I have no doubt he'll be out there by next weekend.

You're a trooper, honey!  I love you!

That's pretty much what we've been up to this weekend.  Just didn't want you to think I had TOTALLY forgotten about this little blog!

3rd annual Tyler Half

3 years ago we started this crazy running thing, Tyler Half Marathon was our first, who knew it would become such a way of life for us.  That is 8 halfs and 1 full for me, and 10 halfs and 1 full for my Sis.  I came prepared, but a flu bug had other plans for me!  Les got "the bug" Saturday about 3am, and is still recovering.  I got the bug about 3 miles into the half marathon, and am still recovering.  Thanks to my Sis, I finished the race and got medal, but it wasn't pretty!  Crazy thing is, we still finished in just a little over 2 1/2 hours.  We ran to mile 9, and walked a good part of the last 4.1.  I was really tempted to lay down on one of those pretty lawns along the course, and let Les come pick me up after Carrie-Ann finished, but she pulled me through.

Other than that it was a FABULOUS weekend :).  We had great family time, and of course the kids had a BLAST, as always!

Friday night, Neely reading a book

Saturday morning

Meme has a dress up trunk, so they run around all weekend in crazy costumes

Sidewalk chalk time

How bout that outfit?  That girl has a mind of her own!

Poppie & LuLu chillin on the backporch!  LuLu LOVED Meme & Poppie's house.  They have lots of dogs she enjoyed trying to dominate, they have a wonderful backyard to run in, a doggie door and an abundant amount of toys and rawhides.  They sure do love their pets....and grandpets!

nope, we aren't ready yet

 still not ready.....

There we go!  We're ready now!  This is at our carb loading dinner.  Carrie-Ann rented a room at the local pizza joint.  She invited several other families to join us....it was a lot of fun!

There were about 10 kids there.  We used one long table to poster making!

They made posters to hold up for us at the race....even Hutch got in on the action!

The kids got mustaches :) by Mommy

Neely added a gotee to hers!

Race morning.  I was feeling a little quesy, but just blew it off....figuring pre-race jitters.  HA, wish that was all it was, little did I know!

We decided to finish strong!  The ONLY reason CA is behind me is because when we went across the first mat we thought the race was over, but we had just a little ways to go.  When we realized it we took off running for the REAL finish line.

13.1 sick!  I never want to do that again, but I'm so glad I finished!  I worked too hard the last couple of months to not finish what I started.
